3G手機電池充電器的解決方案

       所有3G手機都采用鋰離子電池作為主電源。由于散熱及空間的限制,設計師必須仔細考慮選用何種類型的電池充電器,以及(ji)還需要哪(na)些特性(xing)來確保對電(dian)池(chi)進行安(an)全及(ji)精確的充電(dian)。

  線性鋰離子電池充電器的一個明顯趨勢是封裝尺寸繼續減小。但值得關注的是在充電周期(尤其在高電流階段)冷卻IC所需的板空間或通風條件。充電器的功耗會使IC的接合部溫度上升。加上環境溫度,它會達到足夠高的水平,使IC過熱并降低電路可靠性。此外,如果過熱,許多充電器會停止(zhi)充(chong)(chong)電周期,只有當接合(he)部溫度下降(jiang)后(hou)才(cai)恢復工作。如果這種(zhong)高(gao)溫持續存在,那么(me) 充(chong)(chong)電器“停止(zhi)和開始”的反復循環(huan)也(ye)將(jiang)繼續發(fa)生,從而延(yan)長充(chong)(chong)電時間(jian)。為(wei)減少這些(xie)風險,用戶(hu)只能選擇減小充(chong)(chong)電電流來延(yan)長充(chong)(chong)電時間(jian)或增(zeng)大板面積來散(san)熱(re)。因此(ci),由于增(zeng)加了PCB散(san)熱(re)面積及熱(re)保護材料,整個系統成(cheng)本也(ye)將(jiang)上升。

  對此問題有兩種解決方案。首先,需要一種智能的線性鋰離子電池充電器,它不必為擔心散熱而(er)犧(xi)牲PCB面積,并采用一(yi)種小型的熱增強封裝(zhuang),允許它監視自己的接(jie)合部(bu)溫(wen)度(du)以(yi)防(fang)止過熱。如果達(da)到預設的溫(wen)度(du)閾值,充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)能(neng)自動減(jian)少充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)以(yi)限制功耗,從而(er)使(shi)芯片溫(wen)度(du)保持在(zai)安全水(shui)平。第二(er)種解決方案是使(shi)用一(yi)種即使(shi)充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)很高時也(ye)幾(ji)乎(hu)不發熱的充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)。這(zhe)要求使(shi)用脈沖充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi),它是一(yi)種完全不同于線(xian)性充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)的技(ji)術。脈沖充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)依靠經(jing)過良好(hao)調節且(qie)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)受(shou)限的墻上(shang)適配器(qi)來充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)。

  方案一(yi) : LTC4059A線性電(dian)(dian)(dian)池充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi)  LTC4059A是一(yi)款用(yong)于單節鋰(li)離(li)子電(dian)(dian)(dian)池的(de)(de)線性充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi),它無需使用(yong)三個分立(li)功(gong)率器(qi)(qi)件,可快速(su)充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)而不用(yong)擔心(xin)系(xi)統過(guo)熱(re)(re)。監(jian)視器(qi)(qi)負責報告充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)值,并指示充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi)是何時(shi)與輸入電(dian)(dian)(dian)源連接(jie)的(de)(de)。它采用(yong)盡可能(neng)小的(de)(de)封裝(zhuang)但沒(mei)有犧牲散熱(re)(re)性能(neng)。整個方案僅需兩個分立(li)器(qi)(qi)件(輸入電(dian)(dian)(dian)容器(qi)(qi)和一(yi)個充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)編程電(dian)(dian)(dian)阻(zu)),占位面(mian)積為(wei)2.5mm×2.7mm。 LTC4059A采用(yong)2mm×2mm DFN封裝(zhuang),占位面(mian)積只有SOT-23封裝(zhuang)的(de)(de)一(yi)半,并能(neng)提(ti)(ti)供(gong)大約60℃/W的(de)(de)低熱(re)(re)阻(zu),以(yi)提(ti)(ti)高散熱(re)(re)效率。通過(guo)適當的(de)(de)PCB布局及散熱(re)(re)設計,LTC4059A可以(yi)在輸入電(dian)(dian)(dian)壓為(wei)5V的(de)(de)情況下以(yi)最(zui)高900mA的(de)(de)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)對單節鋰(li)離(li)子電(dian)(dian)(dian)池安全充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)。此外,設計時(shi)無需考慮最(zui)壞情況下的(de)(de)功(gong)耗,因為(wei)LTC4059A采用(yong)了專利的(de)(de)熱(re)(re)管理技術,可以(yi)在高功(gong)率條件(如(ru)環境溫度過(guo)高)下自動減小充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)。

  方案二 :帶過流保護功能的LTC4052脈沖充電器  LTC4052是一款全集成的脈沖充電器,用于單節4.2V鋰離子/鋰聚合物電池。當輸入電壓為5.25V并以0.8A電流進行快速充電時,LTC4052的功耗大約為280mW,而線性充電器解決方案的功耗則高達1.8W。與采用電感來獲得高效率和低散熱的開關充電器不同,LTC4052采用無電感設計。利用LTC4052設計的700mA至2A鋰離子/鋰聚合物電池充電器電路僅(jin)占(zhan)70mm2 的(de)面積 ,且高度低于1.7mm。通過將(jiang)功耗減至最低水平(ping),LTC4052可放(fang)寬終(zhong)端設(she)(she)備(bei)對熱(re)設(she)(she)計的(de)要求(qiu),允許(xu)采用更(geng)小(xiao)的(de)封裝、更(geng)小(xiao)的(de)散熱(re)氣流以及更(geng)小(xiao)的(de)PCB面積,而(er)且能(neng)消除熱(re)點,從而(er)無需使(shi)用散熱(re)片或風扇。

  LTC4052需(xu)要一(yi)個電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)受限的(de)墻(qiang)上適配器,以控制充(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)的(de)大小。它還需(xu)配備(bei)過流(liu)保(bao)護(hu)電(dian)(dian)(dian)路,以便(bian)在意外使用較高電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)或(huo)墻(qiang)上適配器發生故障時能提供保(bao)護(hu)。LTC4052是(shi)一(yi)款(kuan)全(quan)集成的(de)脈沖充(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器,無需(xu)使用外部(bu)MOSFET或(huo)阻(zu)流(liu)二極管 (見圖(tu))。這款(kuan)獨立的(de)充(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器IC具有C/10檢測、充(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)狀(zhuang)態指(zhi)示(shi)、充(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)結束定時器、墻(qiang)上適配器檢測及過流(liu)保(bao)護(hu)等(deng)功能。LTC4052的(de)輸入(ru)電(dian)(dian)(dian)源可以是(shi)4.5V到(dao)12V,并(bing)具有1%的(de) 飄(piao)移電(dian)(dian)(dian)壓精(jing)度。
